The National Institutes of Health (NIH), a part of the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, is the nation’s medical research agency — making important discoveries that improve health and save lives.

The Kenya Medical Research Institute (KEMRI) is a State Corporation established through the Science and Technology (Amendment) Act of 1979, which has since been amended to Science, Technology and Innovation Act 2013. The 1979 Act established KEMRI as a National body responsible for carrying out health research in Kenya.

The Ministry of Health, through health facilities in our region from which we get some of research participants. We are also in in partnership with the Ministry of Education. This is allows us to gain approval to do targeted recruitment drives for some/most of our research projects.
